Benzathine Benzylpenicillin	I.P.	4.8MIU

Mode of Action :

Benzathine Benzylpenicillin is predominantly effective against Gram +ve Organisms and to some extent Gram -ve organisms. It belongs to the class of Beta lactams antibacterial. This inhibits the biosynthesis of the cell wall (Peptidoglycan Transpeptidase) of the bacteria. This results in weakening of the cell wall (osmotically instability) leading to lysis and consequently death of the bacteria.
